Coming by plane?

Even though Soča Valley seems like a land far away, it’s actually quite easy to arrive here, as there are a lot of airports near by. We’ll help you get a shuttle service from these airports, and you’ll be here in no time.

  • Klagenfurt: 100 km, 1,5 hours
  • Trieste-Ronchi: 90 km, 1,5 hours
  • Venice-Marco Polo: 180 km, 2,5 hours
  • Venice-Treviso: 190 km, 2,5 hours

Car travel distance

The best way to come to Soča Valley is by car. Either by rental car or with your own. It is easily connected to all the other neighboring countries and would be perfect also as part of a bigger Slovenia road trip.

Motorail

Imagine sitting in your car, windows down, feet up - on a train? Motorail aka car train is literally THE BEST thing you can do. To reach Bovec, go to Bohinjska Bistrica near Lake Bohinj and put your car on the train, auto-train. Yes, you read it right. Then, it is time to sit back and enjoy this unforgettable ride. Even if you're already in Bovec, we strongly suggest you to take the (road) trip. It was even awarded as one of the best and most scenic train rides in Europe. Make sure you'll take a day train or else you'll miss all the amazing scenery and stunning nature on your way.

Public transport

You can reach Bovec by bus and train or a combination of both.

From/To Ljubljana

Bus from Ljubljana goes weekdays 11:15 & 17:50* (weekends). Or take train to Jesenice (hourly) and catch 8:00 bus to Bovec (only from 1.6.-30.9.). Duration: about 4h

From/To Venice

Take a train to Gorizia, hop over the border with either bus/taxy to Nova Gorica. Take bus to Bovec. Duration: 2h30 train, 2h bus

From/To Bled via Bohinj

Take train to Most na Soči and then bus to Bovec. For better connection, you’ll have to change bus in Tolmin. Duration: 2h30 train, 1h bus
